A List of 10 Green Celebrities

I have blogged about green celebrities such as Woody Harrelson and Robert Redford in the past, but here is a list of 10 more actors and actresses that are doing their part for the environment:

10. Alicia Silverstone

Silverstone has a LA house that is equipped with solar panels and she has an organic vegetable garden out back. A long time vegetarian, she has also worked with EcoTools to create a beauty product and bag line made of hemp and other recycled material.

9. Will Ferrell

Oh sure he's funny, but Ferrell is also serious when he supports the National Resources Defense Council.

8. Tom Hanks

Hanks was one of the first to buy the eBox electric car last year. He is also a big supporter of The Nature Conservancy.

7. Pierce Brosnan

The former "James Bond" actor is keen on helping marine mammals, such as dolphins as well as protecting the wetland. And he is easy on the eyes - Brosnan was named the 2004 Best-Dressed Environmentalist.

6. Rosario Dawson

Dawson has appeared before the United Nations to appeal for help to not only preserve the planet, but also end poverty. She also volunteers for Global Cool's mobile texting campaign, which aimed at helping fund energy-reduction and clean energy products.

5. Brad Pitt

Pitt has been helping rebuilt New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina with green homes. He also narrates the PBS series "Rx for Survival: A Global Health Challenge."

4. Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Louis-Dreyfus also has a solar power home. She has been active in such organizations as Heal the Bay, the Trust for Public Land, and the Natural Resources Defense Council.

3. Edward Norton

One of my favorites, Norton partnered with BP to help launch the Solar Neighbors Program. This program helps low income families in LA install solar panels. He also hosted National Geographic's "Strange Days on Planet Earth" about the changing environment.

2. George Clooney

Clooney, who drive a Tango electric car, is not only involved in human right issues, but was featured on the first green issue of Vanity Fair for his work in Oil Change, an organization which hopes to find solutions to end America's dependence on oil.

1. Cameron Diaz

Diaz hosted the MTV eco-documentary "Trippin'." She also appeared on Live Earth and was one of 1,000 people to attend Al Gore's global warming slide show training.
