Green Halloween Costumes

It’s almost Halloween! If you are still looking for costume ideas, why not consider a green costume? What are some green Halloween costume ideas? Well, you could dress as a recycle bin. Just find a box and cut a hole in the middle of the bottom, one big enough for you to fit into it. Cover it with blue or green paper or paint it. Be sure to include the three arrow recycle triangle. Put the box on (you may need to attach straps to keep it secure) and fill it with empty boxes, cans, and bag. If you want … Continue reading

Gore Says Obama Not Doing Enough

Al Gore has been a big activist in the crusade to halt global warming. The former vice president, who has been involved in environmentalism since the ‘70s, authored the now famous book “An Inconvenient Truth: The Planetary Emergency of Global Warming and What We Can Do About It” that led to the film “An Inconvenient Truth.” Now, he has called out President Barack Obama for his lack of efforts towards reducing emissions in a 7,000 word essay released to Rolling Stone. The Sierra Club

I had always heard about the Sierra Club but really had no idea who they were, so I grabbed some of their literature. If you think people having been concerned about conserving nature for a while now, you are wrong. The Sierra Club has been around since 1892. Its mission is “to explore, enjoy, and protect the … Continue reading

Alec Loorz and Kids vs. Global Warming

I always find it touching when I read about young people who are so concerned about environmental issues that they do something. Alec Loorz, a sophomore at El Camino High School in Ventura, Cali, is one of those young people trying to make a difference. Alec saw the Al Gore documentary An Inconvenient Truth when he was 12 years old. The film touched him so much that he applied to be one of the certified presenters to give the slideshow about the film. However, Alec’s application was rejected, perhaps because of his age. But, he wasn’t going to give up … Continue reading
