Statistics for the Gulf Oil Spill

The other day, I noted that most of the Hollywood elite are ignoring the oil spill in the Gulf. Here are a few statistics about the oil spill that might surprise you: How many men died in the explosion that started this leak? Eleven and lest they be forgotten, here are their names: Jason C. Anderson, Aaron Dale Burkeen, Donald Clark, Stephen Ray Curtis, Roy Wyatt Kemp, Karl D. Kleppinger Jr., Gordon L. Jones, Keith Blair Manuel, Dewey A. Revette, Shane M. Roshto, and Adam Weise. Celebs on the Gulf Coast Oil Spill

Celebrities are often the first ones to speak up and act after a disaster. Remember gun wielding Sean Penn rescuing people in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina? How about Wyclef Jean raising money after the Haiti earthquake? But, they don’t seem quite as vocal about the Gulf Coast oil disaster. So far, there are no telethons, although God love him, Kevin Costner thinks he has a solution with his oil-separation technology, which, last I heard, BP is still investigating. Director James Cameron met with scientists and officials from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He hoped some technology used in The … Continue reading

Green Celebrities: Ted Danson

You probably remember Ted Danson best as Sam Malone on “Cheers.” But, Ted also has another passion – saving our oceans. Danson has been interested in saving the environment from a young age, but he has focused primarily on saving our oceans. Part of what sparked his interest was when he took his kids to the ocean at Santa Monica. On that particular day, the kids couldn’t swim because of a “Water polluted, no swimming” sign. Danson said explaining to his kids why they couldn’t swim “was hard,” and he said “it got questioning a lot of things.” After that, … Continue reading

People Begin Boycotting BP

The anger about the BP Gulf oil spill and the amount of time it has taken to come up with a solution to stop the gushing oil as well as clean up what has already been released is mounting. There are Boycott BP groups on Facebook (one has almost 500,000 fans) as well as a picture, which I suspect has been tampered with, of a BP pump sign that says not to leave the pump unattended because you are responsible for spills. Has anyone ever seen that sign at a real gas pump? Still, it shows that people are angry … Continue reading
