Greenbuild International Conference and Expo

If you are in Phoenix, Arizona between November 11 and 13, consider yourself lucky! The annual Greenbuild International Conference and Expo is going to be there too!

What is Greenbuild? It is the largest conference devoted to green building. It will feature prominent speakers such as Daniel Wildcat. Daniel, a Native American is the director of the Haskell Environmental Research Studies Center at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. Wildcat hosted an event at the 25th annual Earth Day in which Native American scientists, engineers, and elders talked about the change needed for a healthy planet. He also helped form the American Indian and Alaska Native Climate Change Working Group to work on issues of the changing climate.

Also speaking at Greenbuild are marine biologist Sylvia Earle (named Time magazine's "Hero for the Planet" in 1998), Dr. Peter H. Gleick (co-founder and president of the Pacific Institute), Arthur Rubinfeld (president of Global Development at Starbucks), Paul King (first Chief Executive of the UK Green Building Council), Josh Bernstein (explorer, author, photographer, and wilderness survival expert), and Christoph Ingenhoven (noted architect). And, you may have heard of the keynote speaker - former Vice President Al Gore.

Also appearing at Greenbuild is singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow. She will perform on opening night at the Chase Field. Crow said that her appearance at Greenbuild "is like being on the international stage of the green movement, celebrating with you the progress we're making on this important issue."

More than 25,000 are expected to attend Greenbuild. In addition to the speakers, there will be approximately 1,800 vendors such as KOHLER, Waste Management Inc., DuctMate Industries, and Sustainable Wood Network set up. There will be breakout sessions, and LEED workshops. You can also visit local green buildings.
