IIHS Picks Safest Vehicles for 2012

Every year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) releases a list of the safest vehicles of 2012. Vehicles that end up on this list must pass a series of crash tests designed to determine how safe the car or truck would be in the case of a crash. Is your car on this year’s list? Is Your Toyota Prius Safe?

As you probably know, Toyota has issued several major recalls recently. So far, one of the greenies favorite cars, the Prius, has not been involved in any of the major recalls, but owners of earlier models were advised to take out their floor mats to keep them from blocking the accelerator pedals. My son is six years old now, but I still worry about chemicals he might be exposed to – even with his toys. But, when he was little, I never thought about plastic toys that might contain PVC. Now, we are learning that not only toys, but also cups and bottles may contain PVC. PVC (or polyvinyl chloride) is a bad plastic that is unfortunately very commonly used.
