Kim Kardashian is Pregnant

I almost hate to write this blog because I am not fond of the Kardashian family nor their empire.  I don’t understand how any of them got to be where they are (sans Bruce Jenner) or how they stay there.  I briefly watched an episode of their reality show, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and am certain my IQ dropped during those few minutes.  I think Kim’s 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries was a total sham on her part.  I am still not sure if he was in on the moneymaking marriage or not. But, news is news whether I … Continue reading

Burger King Making Big Changes

Not long ago, I blogged about McDonalds being in trouble with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) for raising hens in tightly confined cages. Now it looks like Burger King is going cage-free. The company announced that within the next five years, it will stop using eggs or pork from chicken and pigs kept in small cages. In case you are wondering the impact this might make on the fast food industry, know that there are 12,500 Burger King franchises in the U.S. The company laid out a new policy in which it is stated that it will … Continue reading

Kim Kardashian Gets Pelted

Reality star Kim Kardashian and PETA have tangled in the past due to her love of real fur. So, when I read the other day that Kardashian had been pelted on the Red Carpet last Thursday with a bag of flour, I just assumed someone from PETA was behind it. (This file is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.5 Generic license.) PETA activists have been known to throw flour in the past, but this time PETA denied any connection to the woman. However, the organization did pipe up after Kardashian said she planned to press charges against her … Continue reading

Whole Foods Market Take on Sustainability Part 2

Yesterday, I was talking about Whole Foods Market and its stance on sustainability. I don’t know if you have one in your city, but there is one in Memphis right down the street from me and it is always jam packed. I think the idea of eating healthier and supporting a grocery store that seems to be concerned about society and the environment is very appealing to many people today. Here’s a few more of Whole Food Markets’ policies, Respect For All Forms Of Life Whole Foods Market is against the senseless killing of any animal or cruelty to those … Continue reading

Kim and Kris Marry…No Wait, Divorce

I didn’t blog about the Kim Kardashian/Kris Humphries wedding because frankly, I don’t really care for people who became famous for no reason at all. Now some of her fans might say “But Libby, she is a successful reality star and business woman. Uh, no. Do something that shows some remote talent, then I will consider you famous. So, I refused to blog about the wedding, yet now I feel compelled by my love for Hollywood scandal to let you know I will blog about the divorce. Yes, that is right, I said “divorce.” After a brief 72 days (is … Continue reading

PETA Sets its Sights on Seniors

I have always thought PETA’s ads were aimed mostly at a young audience. Think of all the people who have posed nude for PETA’s anti-fur ad – Pamela Anderson, Taraji P. Henson, Chad Ochocinco, Khloe Kardashian, Tony Gonzalez, Eva Mendes, Mario, Brooke Hogan, Steve-O – and well, there are not a lot of geriatric bodies in the bunch. But, PETA’s new campaign is aimed at an older crowd and lead by a true super-legend – Cloris Leachman. The new campaign, titled “Cloris Leachman Reveals that Seniors and Elephants Have More in Common Than Wrinkles,” consists of a video telling older … Continue reading

PETA’s 30th Anniversary Gala

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) held its 30th anniversary gala this past Saturday night at the Hollywood Palladium. Hosted by Alec Baldwin, plenty of celebs turned out to support the cause. The organization handed out Humanitarian Awards to Eli Roth, Olivia Munn, Dave Navarro, Joanna Krupa, Emily and Rose McCoy, Kellan Lutz, Charo, Lea Michele, Eva Mendes, and Anjelica Huston. Christina Cho was named the Nanci Alexander Award Winner and Dan Neri was named the Bea Arthur Activist Award Winner. Presenters included Casey Affleck, Joaquin Phoenix, Pamela Anderson, Abbie Cornish, Kelly Osbourne, Sophia Bush, Jena Malone, and … Continue reading

PETA “Hunts” Kristy Lee Cook

Remember Kristy Lee Cook from season seven of “American Idol?” The country singing Seattle native made to the Top 24, but she was repeatedly berated by the judges and often found herself in the bottom three before she was finally eliminated in seventh place. Like many other “Idols” who were eliminated before the finale, Cook has been able to stretch her reality fame into other opportunities. She is the star of a reality show called “Goin Country” on the Versus channel. The show follows her around the country as she tries to land a record deal. But, because Versus is … Continue reading

PETA Takes on Kim Kardashian, Resurrects Bea Authur

While the Humane Society is busy trying to get McDonald’s to use cage-free hen raising practices, PETA is continuing to fight other battles. The battle this week is with reality star Kim Kardashian. No, Kim didn’t wear fur or eat meat, but she did abuse a kitten, according to PETA. Kardashian posted a photo of herself holding a kitten by the scruff of the neck. Now, a lot of people think this is perfectly acceptable (my husband being one – I personally don’t do it) because after all, mama cats carry their babies this way. But, mama cats don’t have … Continue reading
